Indus School Science Fair

On February 6, 2019 at 9:00 in the morning, Indus School will be celebrating Science! For the 13th year running, Indus Students will participate in a school Science Fair, with the top entries from Grade 5 and up having the opportunity to go on to the Calgary Youth Science Fair (CYSF) on April 4-6 at the Olympic Oval. Students in Grades 5 through 9 must follow the rules and procedures of the CYSF. Attached are numerous documents from the www.cysf.org.

Timeline

November - January:  Participant information (this thing you are reading) distributed; the work begins!

January: Self Evaluation

  • Read and follow the tips sheet and information on the oral presentation of your project
  • Students complete the Safety Checklist (store in Logbook)
  • Students use the judges tally sheets (experimental, research) to assess their own work and identify strengths and weaknesses in their projects, then fix those weaknesses.

February 6:  Indus school Science Fair – 9:00-11:30

  • Up to four projects in Grades 5 and 6 and another four in Grades 7 through 9 are registered for the Calgary Youth Science Fair.
  • Those students use this time to improve their projects prior to the Calgary science fair.  They use the CYSF judging sheets for Elementary (Gr. 5-6) and Secondary (Gr 7+) projects to ensure projects are the best they can be.
