Thank you for your interest in our school. Located in the southeast corner of Rocky View School Division No. 41, Indus School serves a diverse population of approximately 220 students, in Kindergarten through Grade 9, from the hamlets of Indus, Shepard, and Dalemead, along with the surrounding areas.

Although small, our school has top level resources. We have an “elementary” sized gym with a well stocked equipment room, a library boasting over 12,000 items, and a large playground and play area outside. Our on-site support services include a Resource teacher and five assistants, a Child Development Advisor and a classroom assistant in Kindergarten. We also receive support from external specialists including an Educational Psychologist, Program Specialist, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Speech/Language Pathologist, and Family/School Liason Worker.

During the 2007/2008 school year, our Grade 6 students were involved in a three year longitudinal study of the effectiveness of Universal Design for Learning and Understanding by Design practices coupled with 24/7 access to technology. The project, called Breaking Down the Barriers, saw each of the Grade 6 students issued with a MacBook computer for the next three years (at that time the students went to Langdon for Grades 7 - 9). Through innovative teaching and continuous technological support, the students saw gains in academics, personal engagement, and personal responsibility.  Owing to the success of that project,  parent council has sponsored our 1:1 computer project until the end of the 2014-2015 school year, purchasing netbooks for each Indus student in Grades 7 - 9.  As of 2015-2016, we are moving to personally owned devices.

If you have any questions about our school, please don’t hesitate to drop us an email (indusschool@rockyview.ab.ca) or give us a call (936-5855).

Yours in Education,

M.G. Wyper
